The Playwright 38 brings the neighbourhood hangout spot to the next level. Imagine a spot to grab a quick bite, a drink with friends, or bring your furry friends along for a night on the terrace overlooking the city of Nottingham.

Put all of these three together and you have the perfect marriage for your next favourite spot to try, The Playwright 38. While their food might be small in size, it definitely is large in flavour. Their food is more than your typical bar food, and we can’t wait to share this hidden gem with you.

Why Did We Choose The Playwright 38 in Nottingham?

Pizza spots are all about the environment and the flavour, and The Playwright 38 brings both of these with ease. Their location is on the corner of the city displaying Arkwright University Building and Gardens to give an amazing view to overlook from the terrace. Perfect for a date night, get together with old friends, or a self-care night alone.

Not only is the environment great, but they serve artisan pizzas from their wood-fired oven named Juliet, adding nothing but forbidden love to your pizza obsession. Pair this with a great beer or unique cocktail, and you have the perfect equation for a night of bliss.

What’s on Offer at The Playwright 38

Now, let’s talk about all there is to indulge in at The Playwright 38. There is a variety of options to choose from: nibblers, quesadillas, pizzas, grazers, flatbreads, salads, and mini sweet treats are just the highlights!

Starting with nibblers, get your pallet woken up with Harissa Pork Belly Bites or Barbeque Brisket Strips to share with the table. It’s always a good idea to have something while you wait on that one late friend or to munch on with your first drink.

Looking for a bit larger of a starter? Choose between three of the loaded down options: mac and cheese, curly fries, or nachos. Each of these has loads of variations to choose from, but imagine garlic mushroom, truffle, and parmesan mac and cheese, barbeque pulled brisket, spring onions, and aioli curly fries, or chipotle chicken, chimichurri, melted cheese, and tomato salsa nachos just for a few of the options to choose from.

Next, you can try one of their favourites such as the Chicken Street Kebab made of North African style flatbread with shredded salad veggies, chicken thighs, chargrilled bell peppers, sun-kissed cherry tomatoes, tzatziki, and Turkish chilli salsa or The Nifty Burger that features a 21-day aged beef patty, cheese, streaky bacon, pickled red onion & burger sauce in a pretzel bun served with skinny fries and red cabbage slaw.

To the section of the menu everyone has been waiting for: let’s talk pizza. Two of our favourites The Playwright 38 offers are the Clucker featuring chipotle chicken, chorizo, tomato base, mozzarella, and bell peppers as well as the Shroom for those looking for a vegetarian option. This option includes garlic mushrooms, a tomato base, mozzarella, baby spinach, and parmesan. Talk about tasty!

Our Verdict

We are a sucker for a good beer, cocktail, and authentic slice of pizza, and this spot has all three.  If this sounds like your type of spot, then you have to give The Playwright 38 a visit next time you are in Nottingham. Experience the beauty of Nottingham with a beautiful meal with those you love. What could be better?
