Looking to make homemade, wood-fired pizza in your garden?

In this DeliVita pizza oven review, we’ll walk you through our experience with the oven as a first-time pizza maker.

This is UK’s #1 home wood-fired oven, but is it worth the price tag? We think you’ll be as surprised as we were.

Overview

The DeliVita pizza oven is the UK’s top home wood-fired pizza oven for good reason. It’s the closest thing you can buy to a real pizzaiolo’s oven without needing clay bricks and tonnes of cement.

It does pretty much everything a restaurant oven does, it’s just smaller and you can use it right in your garden. I was even able to cook a restaurant-quality pizza in about 2 minutes flat. It’s an instant culinary upgrade that improves every meal – whether you make pizza, meat, vegetables, or any other meal.

It’s wood-fired, meaning anything you cook automatically absorbs that delicious wood flavouring you get at a classic Italian restaurant.

It takes a bit of practice to light the fire, and it’s a bit annoying to clean. That, and the price is NOT CHEAP.

Overall, though, it’s like owning a pizza parlor in your own backyard, so it’s worth the money.

Who is DeliVita? And Why is their Oven so Popular?

DeliVita is the UK’s leading manufacturer of handmade, wood-fired pizza ovens and accessories.  Their pizza oven is a top seller and for good reason!

These handmade, Italian-style ovens are stylish, portable, and capable of producing a delicious pizza in just a few minutes. Plus they’re all made in Yorkshire!

The creators of DeliVita are Italian, and their inspiration behind this brand was a result of two things: family and food! Their goal was to create a beginner-friendly oven that brought Italian-quality pizza to gardens across the UK.

Who Is The DeliVita Pizza Oven For?

The DeliVita is perfect for anyone – beginner to advanced – looking to cook restaurant-quality pizza right in their garden, but especially for beginner to intermediate chefs who don’t have the time or budget for a “real” outdoor pizza oven (which cost thousands of pounds).

Personally, I think it’s perfect for families or anyone who regularly hosts parties. I can’t tell you how much better I feel making my family’s dinner by hand than I do ordering Dominos or Pizza Hut – and it tastes way better too.

I’m definitely NOT a pizzaiolo by any means, but the DeliVita makes me feel like a professional pizza chef. My pizzas certainly taste like it!

Once you learn how to prepare the dough right, just heat up the oven (~25 minutes), and toss it in. All you have to do from there is watch and adjust if it’s not heating evenly. That’s all. I make a darn good pizza in about 2 minutes. Can’t beat it!

I really like how portable it is too. It’s only 30kg, so I can easily carry it to a party elsewhere or bring it to my inlaws’ place (brownie points!).

Where Can I Use This Oven?

The DeliVita is an outdoor pizza oven. It’s perfect for urban balconies, patios, or gardens.

Don’t worry about the weather. The fibreglass and stainless design ensure its rust-resistant. However, I do recommend getting the weather cover. That’ll keep it looking great for years. I read some reviews online where customers complained bad weather reduced the glimmer within a year.

In my opinion, the All Weather Cover is a must have. Here’s why:

  • – It’s water and scratch-resistant. This means it will be in top condition for many years to come!
  • – It protects ovens from nature including wildlife or falling leaves. This is great for those storing it outdoors.
  • – The adjustable side straps tighten around the oven base, securing the cover in place.

NOTE: Make sure it’s cooled down before you transport it. Did you know 400 degrees celsius is not suitable for human hands? You learn something new every day…

What Makes The DeliVita Pizza Oven Stand Out From The Crowd?

The DeliVita Pizza Oven is by far the best miniature wood-fired oven on the market. Once you see why it’s different, you’ll understand why it doesn’t come cheap. It surprised us just how high the quality was.

Here’s what makes it one of the best ovens I’ve tried:

  • – Take it anywhere: It’s only 30kg, so I bring it to every party to show off my pizza skills.
  • – Lasts for years: Unlike most competitors, its shell is waterproof and resistant to hairline cracks.
  • – More than pizza: I regularly cook flatbreads, meat, fish, or even veggies in it. Everything wood-fired tastes good to me.
  • – The most convenient oven: It heats up faster than most wood ovens (25 minutes) and your pizza is ready in 2 minutes. Compare that to 20 minutes or more at the restaurant, and it’s a steal!
  • – Made in Britain: We love that they’re made in Yorkshire and that all their ingredients are locally sourced. That’s rare these days.

Our Verdict

I couldn’t be more impressed with the DeliVita Pizza Oven.

As a beginner, I was a bit skeptical. But it blew away my expectations (and my taste buds)

I really couldn’t believe how good my pizza tasted. All I had to do was prepare the dough, toss it in, and wait a few minutes. Then I had an Italian restaurant-quality pizza on my plate. That’s worth the price alone if you ask me.

It’s made my parties and family time so much better, and we aren’t eating delivery pizza anymore. It’s also fun to make pizzas with my wife when we have our date nights.

The only drawbacks are the price (steep, I’ll admit) and that you don’t get accessories like the Weather Proof Cover or pizza utensils included. That and you do need to prepare the dough right to get a great pizza, but that literally takes 10 – 15 minutes of study. The ingredients you get in the bundle are super high-quality, so your pizzas will come out delicious no matter what.
