The Marcus Ward is “mixed and poured” in the heart of Belfast. It aims to emulate that heart of Belfast by providing mouth-watering dishes, tasty cocktails, and entertainment. This can take many forms depending on the day of the week or time of the year. Nothing is better than sticking to the basics and finding a relaxing, nice spot to grab food and drinks with friends.

Why Did We Choose The Marcus Ward In Belfast?

We are always on the hunt for a spot that merges all of our favourite components into one. That is definitely the case when it comes to The Marcus Ward. There is always something exciting and new at this spot. For the month of December, enjoy different musical entertainment every weekend leading up to Christmas. Embrace the holidays and get your fix of pizza. What could be better? They also host parties for the holidays, such as a Halloween party or Christmas gala that can get even your fanciest friends and family indulging in a bite of pizza.

This spot is quick to serve their food and spices up the menu on top of the entertainment with cocktails of the month, seasonal menus, and extra options such as snacks, dips, and even wings for those not in the mood for pizza that night. It’s safe to say that this Neapolitan-style pizza joint is a must-try spot whether you are passing through or a local Belfast resident.

What’s on Offer at The Marcus Ward

When it comes to the menu, there are a plethora of choices to get your taste buds up and running, no matter what mood you are in. Start with Nibbles such as grilled halloumi lollipops or pork popcorn. Talk about unique options. Move into bowls or plates and try the mooncoin beetroot salad made up of corleggy goat cheese, mooncoin beetroot, sundried tomato, red onion, mixed leaves, and balsamic dressing or the nachos topped with chilli cheese sauce, coriander, fresh chillies, and citrus.

Next, to the star of the show. Yes, pizza. There is a large variety of pizza options, including a Bianco, which has garlic and rosemary oil, onion, pistachio, pecorino, and rocket, or the Bumblebee including chilli, agave, vegan mozzarella, and jackfruit for the vegans or those just wanting to try something new. You can also try one of the signature options, such as the Belfast Black and Blue, which includes tomato, black pudding, young buck blue cheese, and chervil. Now that is tasty.

Someone in the group not in the mood for pizza? Perhaps a burger sounds better. Grab a classic 8 oz beef with little gem, Dubliner cheddar, and burnt onion jam, or a crispy chicken with little gem and mayo. For those with a large appetite, grab the 12 oz buffalo burger with a mozzarella centre, chargrilled tomato, burnt onion jam, and little gem to get your appetite satisfied to the max.

Lastly, you can’t go without one of the perfected cocktails on offer, such as On A Pale Horse made of ketel one, lychee liqueur, orange juice, lemon juice, violette cordial, pastis, grapefruit bitters, and rhubarb bitter, or the Black Violin featuring black bush, pimento dram, apple juice, lime juice blueberry mix, ginger, tincture, and whole egg.

Our Verdict

The Marcus Ward has lots to love. A great restaurant mixes the environment, food and drinks perfectly, and we think this spot does just that. No matter what level of pizza lover you are, this spot is worth visiting for your lunch or dinner.
