Some places always leave a good impression no matter how often you frequent them. Shilling Brewing Company is one of those places, which is why we always pay it a visit if we’re in the Glasgow area.

This restaurant is based inside a stunning Art Deco building. We love how the designers made the most of the art and architecture to bring this charming microbrewery to life. At a glance, it’s such an elegant space that completely engulfs you as soon as you walk in.

Looks aside, we really want to share our dining experience at the Shilling Brewing Co. They had some one-of-a-kind menu options we encourage you to try. Plus, the entire staff seemed to be delighted we were there. They were keen to answer any questions and made us feel right at home.

Why Did We Choose Shilling Brewing Co. in Glasgow?

We always like to see what others are saying about a place before we step foot into it. Generally, if a restaurant has poor online reviews, it’s for a reason, right? We like reading through these reviews to get a sense of which pizzerias are worth trying and those that can be scratched off our list.

Shilling Brewing Co. is one of those restaurants that we had zero doubts we’d enjoy. We thought, even if the food isn’t amazing, it will still be worth our trip judging from the positive online reviews.

So, we headed to the heart of Glasgow’s city centre and walked into Shilling Brewing. Let us say the online reviews and pictures didn’t do it justice!

What’s on Offer at Shilling Brewing Co.

Some of the beers at the Shilling Brewing Co. are made right behind the bar. Since it never leaves the building, you’re guaranteed the freshest pint in Glasgow!

A few of their in-house beers include:

  • – Glasgow Red. It tastes like a classic red ale with hints of bitterness that come from toffee and caramel.
  • – Minotaur IPA. Fruity American IPA for those that want the opposite of bitter.
  • – Compote Fruit Sour. Another fruity beer, except this one, is sour. Expect the taste of blackberries and cherries in this festive sour beer.
  • ‏‏‎ ‎

Not craving one of their in-house selections? No problem. We counted over 25 draught beer lines, and the bartender made it known that they offer the most extensive range of draft beer in Scotland. Pretty amazing if you ask us!

What about the food? We thought you might ask.

You can pair a delicious slice of pizza with your beer. Just like their in-house beers, the pizza dough is made from scratch. The Shilling Brewing team of pizzaiolos makes the dough using fresh ingredients and some beer from their on-site brewery. After they’re topped with ingredients, they’re placed inside a wood-fired pizza oven.

Our Verdict

Shilling Brewing Co. is a charming restaurant we encourage you to dine at if you’re ever in the area. Everything from the charming Art Deco to the in-house beers was great in our book.

If you enjoy savoury pizza with a thin base and piping hot ingredients, you’ll enjoy the freshly made pizza at Shilling Brewing Co. Along with the classic pies served, they also offer vegan and gluten-free options. Pair this with one of their famous beers, and you’re all set.

Don’t take our word for it though. We invite you to have lunch or dinner at the Shilling Brewing Co. We think you’ll enjoy it just as much as we did!
