Il Forno brings the class back to Italian food, or in their words, the fine art of Italian dining. If there is one thing to know about Italian dining, it is that there are loads of hoops to jump through to be considered an authentic and high-quality dish.

Combining generations of love and dedication to the Italian dining experience and the unique twist in the setting of Liverpool, Il Forno brings a component that many pizza places cannot. They bring Italy back into pizza spots.

Why Did We Choose Il Forno in Liverpool?

Il Forno receives continuous praise from food critics, customers, and Italian cuisine lovers. One of their more recent successes is their award for Best Pizza in 2015 from the English Italian Awards as well as being mentioned in The Sunday Times by food critic AA Gill as one of the country’s top Italian restaurants. These are just a few of the tangible examples of their dedication and love for Italian meals.

Not to mention that the seasonal menus that are unique and exciting have received loads of praise and guarantee you won’t run out of options no matter how many times you head to Il Forno.

As we mentioned, this passion has been consistent for generations, starting back in Italy and making its way to Liverpool. Head chef, Paolo Cillo, who is responsible for the unique seasonal menus and the entire menu that stays year-round, as well as his brother, Donato Cillo as the general manager, have created a family run business that aspires to a more elegant and classy version of a family-oriented restaurant.

What’s on Offer at Il Forno

So what is on these highly acclaimed menus? Where to begin? Their menu is long and full of any style of Italian dish that one could dream of. Beginning with starters, choose from classics such as Burrata or Bruschetta to wake up your pallet or choose a more unique option such as Tartare Di Manzo, a classic Italian dish that is prepared at the table. This included diced beef fillet, capers, onions, eggs, mustard, and extra virgin olive oil.

For the main course, decide from four categories: traditional pasta and ravioli, pizza, fish dishes, or meat dishes. Each option has some mouth-watering selections, so there is no wrong decision. There are so many unique selections for pasta and ravioli, but a fan favourite is the Tagliolini al Tartufo. This freshly homemade Tagliolini pasta is prepared at the table and served with black truffle sauce and extra virgin olive oil.

For a unique pizza dish, try the Eccellenza. This includes buffalo mozzarella, D.O.P. pizza base garnished with mortadella salami, caciocavallo cheese, finished with pesto sauce and toasted pistachio. You can also try the Pizza Fritta Salsiccia E Friarielli which is a deep fried pizza with Tomato San Marzano D.O.P., Fiordilatte mozzarella, fresh Italian sausage, Italian broccoli and ricotta cheese.

As far as fish dishes, each of the options has an Italian twist that merges seafood lovers with Italian lovers. At the top of the list is their Zuppa Di Pesce. This is a classic Italian fish soup that is to die for. For meat dishes, try the Milanese di Pollo. This pan-fried chicken is coated in breadcrumbs and served with spaghetti tomato and parmesan cheese.
