Scream for Pizza opened its doors in 2014 after its owners, Alex and Victoria, quit their jobs as cruise ship workers to pursue their true passion: pizza making. They enrolled in the famous La Notizia pizzeria, where they learned everything they needed to know about making authentic, Neapolitan pizza.

Today, their restaurant has received several awards and is featured in several magazines like the Times Top 25 Woodfired Pizzas in the UK or Olive Magazine’s List of Best Pizza Restaurants in the UK. Owners Alex and Victoria have had much success and continue to grow and find ways to better serve their customers.

We were curious to learn more about why this Newcastle-based restaurant is a resident and tourist favourite. We’ll share what we found in this detailed review.

Why Did We Choose Scream for Pizza in Newcastle?

Two words stick out when we think of Scream for Pizza in Newcastle: passion and hard work. The staff was very nice and made us feel at home with their ‘cheesy puns.’ We also read about the owner’s top-notch training at the prestigious La Notizia. This expertise shows in the way they handcraft their pizzas.

Scream for Pizza is also full of personality. This charming restaurant has a nice appearance, and the puns incorporated throughout make it a fun environment to dine in. After dining at this restaurant, we’ll have to be the first to say that the food here is clearly made using locally sourced, quality Italian ingredients. The food was fresh and delicious!

What’s on Offer at Scream for Pizza

This Newcastle favourite offers red pizza, white pizza, and some mouth-watering sidekicks. All their pizzas are 12” large and made in a wood-fired oven. Plus, the dough sits for 48 hours to ensure proper fermentation and rising.

Here’s a little on what you can expect from their menu:

  • – Red Pizza. All your red favourites are here, from marinara pizzas to vegan pizza like the Blue ‘Shroom, which is made of San Marzano tomato sauce, chestnut mushrooms, mozzarella, parmesan, Gorgonzola, garlic, chilli flakes, and rosemary oil.
  • – White Pizzas. Prefer white sauce? You’ll enjoy the Shuffle Truffle pizza, which is made of a truffle cream base, scamorza, chestnut mushrooms, parmesan, basil, and garlic oil.
  • – Sidekicks. Pair your pizza with some of their famous sides or ‘sidekicks’ like fried buttermilk chicken, parmesan & truffle fries, or Da Bomb (bread stuffed with mozzarella, herbs, and garlic).
  • – Drinks. Enjoy several soft drinks and a few beers to choose from. If you’re a lager fan, consider the Ichnusa beer. If you’re more into pale ales, you’ll enjoy the Almasty Yellow beer.

After dining in, check out their merch. They have humorous t-shirts like one that reads, “Crust for Life” or a hoodie that says, “Last Night a Pizza Saved My Life.” Not to mention their hilarious Scream for Pizza logo, which is featured on some of their merchandise. These items make for a great gift or souvenir for yourself or a pizza-loving friend.

Our Verdict

Scream for Pizza is a charming little pizzeria in Newcastle with so much to offer. Whether you’re looking for red pizza, white pizza, or just some amazing sides, they have something for everyone. Or, perhaps you’re looking for a vegan or veggie-friendly meal? They offer this too.

You can’t go wrong dining in or ordering takeout from this pizzeria. Their large wood-fired pizzas are delicious and worth the price. Don’t take our word for it, though. Gather some friends to join and check it out yourself! We know you’ll enjoy it just as much as we did.
